When it comes to divorce, the choice and process is undoubtedly stressful for all those involved. Fortunately, the decision to file for divorce in Arizona or anywhere across the United States may lead to a great feeling of relief for some and a sense of a new beginning.
Because divorce tends to be more prevalent for younger generations, some might say they should be more able to deal with the stress of the split as opposed to other generations. But a new study shows quite the opposite. According to a study out of Michigan State University, divorcing at a younger age may be more dangerous to a person's health than divorcing later in life.
A researcher analyzed self-reported health information from more than 1,200 people over the last 15 years and found that those who divorced at a younger age tended to have more health issues than their older divorcing counterparts.
The researcher said she expected younger people to carry less stress because of the prevalence of divorce in that generation. The researcher pointed out that due to greater experience, older generations may be more able to cope with stress. She also said older people may be in unhappy marriages for many years and divorce may bring a greater sense of relief for them.
Although the correlation between worsening health and divorce has been examined, divorce is often a personal choice that leads to a more fulfilling future for those involved. The choice is rarely a hasty one and those involved often take a lot of time to consider every aspect of the decision before proceeding.
